About Eclipse
The Astronomy Club of IIIT Bangalore - stargazers, dreamers, and explorers.
Our Mission
"To spark curiosity about the universe, make astronomy approachable for anyone in the campus who wants to begin, and build a community where experienced and aspiring stargazers grow together."
What We Do
Our Journey
Club Founded
To combat lockdown and just meet, a small group started gathering in the evenings to look at the stars. An initiative started by Subhajeet Sen sir — members built their own refraction-based telescopes and conducted observations.
A New Wave
A new batch started as a secret society for Astronomy with Kushaal and Divyam. Kushaal brought his small tabletop telescope to conduct observations and meetups.
Secret Society Phase
The club operated like a secret society with like-minded people attending regular meetups and star parties. This period brought people together under the club vision of looking at the big picture.
ECLIPSE is Born
With founding members Sayak, Prashant, Kushaal, Divyam, Tahir, Lohitaksh, and Chainesh, the club received official greenlight from the institute. The ECLIPSE chapter of the Astronomy Club was formally established.
